This is a cultural event practiced in most Asian countries. In the olden days, people used the lunar calendar. So, during the new year, most Eastern countries celebrate their New Year Day and they celebrate their traditional customs and values as well. Normally they start the new year according to auspicious time. As a special item, the children offer sheaf of betels to their parents and elders by asking their pardon for all misconducts done throughout the year. In such a way they get their blessings and pardon. Specifically, during the new year they enjoyed their traditional foods and games.
